Parliamentary Delegates from 22 APPF Member Countries To Participate in the 27th Annual Meeting of the APPF in Siem Reap Province in January

The parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia will host the 27th Annual Meeting of the APPF in Siem Reap province from 14-17 January 2019 under the theme of “Strengthening Parliamentary Partnership for Peace, Security and Sustainable Development”. Delegates from 22 member countries are expected to attend this crucial regional event in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province.

On 2nd January 2019, H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, First Vice-President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, chaired a preparatory meeting to review the working outcome that has been fulfilled in preparations for the APPF-27.

The meeting was attended by concerned working groups in charge of documentation, all five subcommittee of the Organizing Committee, representatives from the concerned ministries, including the Parliamentary Institute of Cambodia and the working group from the APPF host secretariat.

On the occasion, H.E. Mr. Leng Peng Long, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Secretary General of the APPF-27 Host Secretariat, made a brief report to the meeting, saying many work related to the preparations for the APPF-27 have been done and well-prepared. His Excellency Secretary-General added that 239 delegates from the APPF member countries have confirmed their participation in the said annual meeting.

Lastly,H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel advised all concerned working groups to pay more attention to their work and make greater efforts in fulfilling their duties towards the smooth and successful conclusion of the APPF-27. His Excellency Dr. Vice-President continued by stressing that the APPF-27 offers a great honor and pride for the Kingdom of Cambodia to show its good reputation in the significant contribution to global peace and development.

The Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) was founded in Tokyo in 1993. The APPF currently has 27 full-fledged member countries.
