Cambodian National Assembly Second Vice-Chairwoman H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary Receives Vice-Chairwoman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation

H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, Second Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and Chairwoman of the Women Parliamentarian Caucus, received H.E. Ms. Olga Epifanova, Vice-Chairwoman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in the afternoon of 14th January 2019 at Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Center on the occasion of her participation in the 27th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum, which is held in the beautiful cultural province of Siem Reap. On the occasion, Cambodian National Assembly Vice-President Khuon Sudary informed her Russian guests that it is a great honor and terrific opportunity for the parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia to host the Meeting of the Women Parliamentarians for the first time following the approval to organize this event from the 26th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum in Hanoi, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, last year. The APPF discusses three major matters, among which the Meeting of the Women Parliamentarians consists of the following topics:
1.Strengthening the Asia-Pacific Partnership for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women and Girls for Peace and Sustainable Development
2.Ensuring Equality for all Women and Men Access to Education, Technical Training and Information Technology for Sustainable Peace and Achieving SDGs
3.Promoting Gender Equality and Women Empowerment in Decision-Making at all Levels’

Meanwhile, Cambodian National Assembly Second Vice-President Khuon Sudary spoke highly of the close longstanding relations of friendship, solidarity and good cooperation between the two countries, the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Russian Federation, who have always supported each other since the past till the present, proposing the continuation of these existing warm ties, adding that the two legislative bodies in particular should further expand cooperation and jointly organize more seminars to exchange views and experiences.

In response, H.E. Mrs. Olga Epifanova, Deputy Chairwoman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, expressed her thanks to H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, who has stressed the importance of the relations of the two countries as well as the two legislative branches, and she pledged to convey all good recommendations from Cambodia to inform the leadership of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

In conclusion, the Russian side commended and highly valued the parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia for its efforts in the organization of the 27th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF-27) and wished the crucial regional event a great success.
