In the evening of 14 January 2019: Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei HENG SAMRIN, President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia and President of the APPF-27, presided over a welcome reception in honor of the honorable delegates attending the 27th Annual Meeting of the APPF, which was held in Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Center.

In his welcoming address on the occasion, Samdech president of the National Assembly stated that our gathering tonight is not only a reflection of the continued stronger ties of friendship, solidarity and good cooperation among the legislative branches in the Asia-Pacific, but a showcase to the world of the role of the APPF in sharing mutual values, views and ideals with the goal of building the Asia-Pacific a region of peace, stability, progress and harmony for all nations.

The president added that the parliament of the Kingdom of Cambodia is so proud to gain trust and support from the APPF member countries and observers as well as partner organizations to host the 27th Annual Meeting of the APPF, and firmly hoped that the active participation and immense contribution made by participants will surely contribute to the resounding success of the regional event, which is being held in this treasure motherland of Angkor Wat, which dated back to a history of thousand years ago.

The president also took the opportunity to extend his profound thanks to the Executive Committee of the APPF for making lively contributions in studying and unanimously adopting the topics and program of the annual meeting, especially providing support for Australia to be the next host of the APPF after Cambodia.

Lastly, Cambodian National Assembly and APPF-27 President continued by saying he was proud of and satisfied with all achievements scored by the APPF over the last 27 years, which has played very crucial role in the maintenance of peace and regional stability through addressing common major issues for the sake of peace, security, stability, socio-economic, environment, democracy, human rights, education, culture and local development.
