After the discussion on the First Plenary Session on Political and Secure Matters in the Afternoon of 15 January 2019 came to a conclusion, H.E. Dr. Nguon Nhel, First Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, continue to chair the Second Plenary Session regarding Economic and Trade Matters in the morning of 16 January 2019 at Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Center, which continued discussion on the Second and Third Topics:
1-Enhancing Cooperation among Member States to Build a Strong Institution for Promoting Trade and Inclusive Growth
2-“Promoting Financial Access and Vocational Training for Small-Medium Enterprises for Employment and Peace”
3-Enhancing Connectivity in the Asia Pacific Through E-Commerce

During the Second Plenary Session, H.E.  Mr. Chhoun Leng, Head of the Cambodian delegation, for Economic and Trade Matters said the APPF-27 decided to select this timely theme to share experiences aimed at seeking a key strategy to build the Asia-Pacific a region of peace, security, prosperity and happiness for all peoples.

He added that during the last 7 years, the Asia-Pacific has been enjoying rapid economic growth and huge progress, but inequality and the sharing of the benefits from economic growth among member countries in the region remain a challenge and pervasive.

In this sense, in order to maintain a sustainable and inclusive growth, we as representatives of the peoples should work together to further bolster cooperation within both bilateral and multilateral framework aimed at building a strong institution towards the facilitation of the free flows of free trade and foreign direct investments, including enhancing the participation of private sectors. Moreover, we need to strengthen human resources development and deepen connectivity in the region and the world so as to step up inter-connected macroeconomic cooperation and private industry cooperation (SMEs) especially to cement capacity building in an effective and quality fashion.

On the occasion, participating delegates expressed their similar interest in the third topic of economic and trade matters, which is of great importance for each member countries. Delegates shared experiences and good practices and expressed their strong hope that the APPF-27 will produce productive outcomes towards the realization of the common aspirations of peoples who need to live with sustainable economic development, and make sure no one will be left behind.
