The Third Plenary Session of the APPF-27 Discusses Regional Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region 1/16/2019 2:24:44 AM H.E. Ms. Khuon Sudary, Second Vice President of the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Cambodia, chaired the Third Plenary Session of the APPF-27 at Sokha Siem Reap Resort and Convention Center in the morning of 16th January 2019 aiming to discuss regional cooperation among the APPF member countries. Regional Cooperation Matter raised three topics for discussion as follow: 1.“Enhancing Parliamentary Roles in Response to Climate Change”. 2.“Promoting Cooperation on Disaster Risk Reduction” 3.“Strengthening parliamentary cooperation in promoting the diversity of cultural expressions and tourism in the Asia-Pacific region”. During the plenary, all parliamentary delegates from the APPF member countries lively exchanged views and experiences and paid close attention to tackling climate change that became a global issue at the present, while all countries in the region have suffered impacts of natural disasters as result of climate change. The plenary also shared experiences and gave recommendations and solutions to address this common issue. Regarding the topic of “Strengthening parliamentary cooperation in promoting the diversity of cultural expressions and tourism in the Asia-Pacific region”, delegations from member countries made their interventions on the topic, expressing their views stating that tourism is an indispensable sector for all countries. In this essence, we observed that there are growing people-to-people links from one country to another that contribute to giant industries today. The Asia-Pacific is a region that has great many of tourism attractions and been ranked as the second largest tourism place in the world, blessing with both cultural and eco-tourism sites, together with a large number of cultural heritages that reflect the richness of cultural diversity. Finally, the Third Plenary Session offered recommendations on regional cooperation that is very vital for promoting the diversity of cultures that could provide benefits to tourists. H.E.
